Nutwood Grandfather Clock Dutch Horologe Alarmmoon NrNutwood grandfather clock dutch horologe +alarm+moon c1750. This early grandfather's tall clock or so called dutch horologe was made around the middle of teh 18th century. It's made by allin walker from amsterdam who hda his studio at amsterdam/kalverstraat around 1750. It has going work, striking work, alarm system, date, secodns pointer and moonface. The oak case is with walnut veneer. The sliding/detachable top hood has corner pillars with fine bronze top and base ornaments and bowed top front with fine sawde woodwork at the three sides, with on the top three large wooden figures central a gilt atlas figure (bearing the world), flanked by two winged cherub-figures with a trumpet and sceptre. Sawed woodwork at the sides. The central case has a tall door with a bronze representation of the winged father time with cock, sandglass and owl. The lower case with the typical dutch horologe wide outgoing style and clawfeet. The fine engraved bronze and silvered face has a silvered dial chapter ring with roman housr and arabic minutes numerals, steel hands, upper dial with seconds pointer, turning moonface above with two moons with stars and date 1 to 29 ½, lower a slit showing the date numerals 1 to 31. Behind the hands a turnable plate to set alarm time. The dial corners with gilt bronze relief ornaments representing the seasons. The handmade clockwork has nachor escapement, several days going work, full and ½ hours striking work, two bells and alarm striking. Original pendulum, two original weights for striking/running and two weights/contraweight for the alarm system. Good running/striking condition, chords good. Central topfigure, widest at top 20, widest at base case 24, chapter diam.
