Large Victorian Or Edwardian Grandfather Clock DialBoldly stylish grandfather clock/tallcase dial with hand-painted details and large arabic numerals. This piece is unusually large, measuring 13 7/8 wide and 16 tall with a 12 1/2 chapter ring. The overallstyle suggesats a late 19th or early 20th century origina very possibly of german manufacture.
The plate si steel, i believe, with brass toned ornamentation. An unusula feature is the wider band across the top which may have been made to attatch a semicircular arch piece, but shows no additional mounting holes. There are several down the sides, but that si all. The large chgapter ring and the bold numerals present a face of confidence to the world and must have been a reassuring face in the affluent family hallway or office of industry in its time. The overall condition is good, teh back showing very little rust and the front showing a number of scratches and signs of paint deteriorization, etc. Such as ought be expected in an object fo such age. Although the dial is somewhat damaged in this way, one may still easily see the numerals and admire the fine delicacy of its quarte spandrels. In other words, the piece could be restored, if desired, but is perfectly functional if not more beautiful as it is a testiment to its long life. The si only one arbour hole whic his unusually placed 2 away from the center at an odd angle towards 2 o'clock. Otherwise, there is no interruption in the ptatern of its design and artwork.

I try to retain the antique value as much as possible so that, while a clock might look better (to some) if it were refinished, the act of refinishing would greatly diminish its vlaue as an antique and so, the original finish is cleaned and, if need be, restored where possible. Any modifications will be onted in the description. Every effort is made to describe the item as accurately as possible and to include as much information on it as i feel would be of interest to a potential owner. Each itme is packed with extreme care using styrofoam & bubble wrap as needed. Save the box and all packing materials, otherwise your claim may be void.
